Q & A
EXERCISE BIKE USE Q: Can I install a RealSeatTM on my exercise bike? A: Yes! So long as you use a 7/8" 'tapered' seat post shaft. See the HOW TO page for requirements.
SLIDING FORWARD WHILE PEDALING Q: While pedaling my bike, I slide forward off my RealSeatTM, what can I do to correct it? A: PLEASE READ THE RECOMMENDATIONS BELOW TO REMEDY. For you should easily be able to competently sit and pedal without sliding off a RealSeat!
ELDERLY OR GERIATRIC USE Q: Your seat looks like a perfect gift for my elderly 74 year old father, being an older man would he be able to use seat without compromising his safety. A: It entirely depends on just how physically agile and dexterous he is! And, if you know he has issues with his balance or coordination then it would NOT be a good gift.
LATERAL SHIFTING OF SEAT Q: My RealSeatTM shifts laterally left and right, how do I stop it? A: One or both of the 2 things listed below need tightened: 1.) Check to see if the (2) 6mm hex head Allen screws on the RealSeatTM seat mount are equally tight. 2.) Check to see if the bicycles main seat tube clamp/quick release is tight (aka... the bolt you loosen and tighten to raise or lower your seat).
SEAT POST COMPATIBILITY Q: I do not have the right style of seat post shaft. Are there replacement seat posts available for my bike that are compatible with RealSeatTM? A: Yes! We have a full selection of compatible 'tapered' replacement seat post shafts and shims (that work on any and all bicycles) available for purchase on our PRICING page -OR- any real bike shop can get you the exact diameter seat post shaft assembly you will need to install your RealSeatTM. Please consult the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS on the HOW TO page for more specific advice.

RECUMBENT BIKE USE Q: Can RealSeatTM be mounted to a recumbent bicycle? A: No! Our RealSeat will not mount to any recumbent style bike that we are aware of. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: If you have been considering a recumbent because you can no longer tolerate a saddle, then look no further! For listed below we have some compelling reasons why NOT to buy a recumbent. Invariably, just as 'early man thought the world was flat', there will be a few prideful recumbent owners who will disagree with our assertions. But a reasonable man could not dispute the FACT that people are inclined to buy recumbent bicycles 'first and foremost' because of it's seat. To illustrate our point, just how many recumbent bikes do you think would sell with saddles on them? And while we will not dispute that recumbent bicycles do indeed have comfortable seats when compared to a traditional saddle on an upright bicycle, they are absolutely AWFUL at hill climbing! For any bicycle that does not permit you to stand with your full weight on it's crank, will be a bicycle that you will most certainly walk up most hills with. And they are considerably heavier to walk up that hill! So, unless your an individual with a physical impediment or other ailment why waste your money on a Rube Goldberg styled bike best suited to low grade rail trails. Lastly, consider for the exorbitant cost of the average recumbent bike you could buy not one but 2 high end Mountain or the HOT selling 'Forward Crank' Bikes each equipped with a premium shifter and whisper quiet derailleur and dual disc brakes). And, the best part is with our wide spectrum of colors you will have no problem selecting a RealSeatTM to match your new bike!
HORNLESS SEAT AND CONTROL Q: Does RealSeat's hornless seat design effect bicycle control? A: No! Once one gets accustomed to riding their RealSeatTM, they soon discover that they can control their bicycle much the same as if there was still a saddle on it. For you will be able to easily dart around obstacles and negotiate tight turns. We even have reports coming in from customers who can sit and pedal their bike without their hands on handlebars! FACT: The 'horn' on traditional modern saddles is "literally and figuratively" reminiscent of medieval devices of torture.
REALSEAT 4 KID'S Q: I need a gift for my nephew, would a kid think a RealSeatTM is cool? A: Yes! We can assure you that most any kid would appreciate, and most importantly, use a RealSeat. Not only is it radical looking but they will like it for the very same reasons an adult does. And the best part is... for 'less than the cost of a dreaded video game' you can give a child a RealSeatTM to the great outdoors.
SEAT COVER LONGEVITY Q: How long can I expect the seat cover to last? A: Under normal conditions (wherein the bike is stored indoors) the seat cover will hold-up for many years. For the fabric covering and foam in our seat is most similar to that found on premium outdoor patio furniture. Therefore, its very longevity depends entirely on how often it is used and exposed to the elements. By design the seat cover is fully removable and can be easily replaced once it is worn beyond continued. We do offer for sale a complete selection of replacement or spare covers in all colors. For we get a lot of customers who purchase a spare in a different color to match another bike.
IMPOTENCE PREVENTION WARNING: GRAPHIC TOPIC Q: After being diagnosed with 'acute erectile dysfunction' caused by vascular deterioration from saddle use, my doctor has barred me from my bicycle. Once healed, will your RealSeatTM provide the vascular relief necessary to allow me to bike again? A: Yes! For while riding on a RealSeatTM, your entire body weight is dispersed over a much wider area. Our RealSeatTM relieves the pressure on the nerves and arteries that serve to provide proper blood flow to man's reproductive tract. Where in on a saddle, your entire body weight is confined directly atop the perineum, thereby crushing and restricting the very arteries and nerves responsible for an erection. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: As far back as about 1997, print & electronic media have published 'numerous' articles concerning the detrimental consequences of bicycle saddles. While it is not an issue encountered by casual bicyclist, it is a serious problem shared by increasing numbers of endurance 'road bike' cyclist and overweight leisure riders.
CHAFING AND ABRASION Q: While pedaling my bike, will the front edge of the seat cover braise and chafe the back of my legs? A: No! The seat cover is made of a supple woven nylon that is both flexible and flaccid. Further, the seat covers front edge will not interfere or impede your ability to pedal.
HEMORRHOID RELIEF Q: Will your RealSeatTM relieve the pain associated with hemorrhoids? A: Yes! For your weight is evenly distributed on a RealSeatTM, where in as with a saddle you are sitting directly atop your rectal area. It has been theorized that the inordinate pressure put upon the rectal area from sitting on a saddle for long periods of time, combined with both the perspiration from exercise and abrasion from pedaling, is a leading culprit of inflammation, thereby irritating hemorrhoid tissue.
LOWER BACK PAIN Q: When riding a traditional saddle, I experience lower back pain. Will your RealSeatTM eliminate the back pain I receive from biking? A: Yes and No! Yes, if your back pain is associated with bike saddle usage. For our RealSeatTM will reduce and disperse the weight bore upon your tail bone. No, if you have permanent back pain.
1) Try lowering the overall seat height by a inch or two. For our RealSeat has a vertical height slightly greater than the saddle that came with your bike. Loosen the seat post clamp then lower your RealSeat and re-tighten. 2) Try leveling the seat, for the 'pitch angle' could be too extreme. Loosen the flange head nut and pivot the seat to a more level position and re-tighten. 3) Try the seat on a more 'comfort oriented' style of bike. For all too often people today ride bicycles that are not best suited to their body size or riding lifestyle.
IMPORTANT USE CONSIDERATIONS: When pedaling a bike hard a rider will tend to sit closer to the seats front edge AND while coasting or pedaling casually one tends to sit further back in the seat. In general, there is sufficient seat cover area to not only 'sit and pedal' comfortably but extra seat area to 'reposition your rump' once fatigue or tired butt sets in. Once one gets acclimated to riding their RealSeat, many riders can not only 'sit and pedal' comfortably without sliding off their RealSeatTM but can do so 'no handed'.

PROSTATE PROTECTION Q: I recently had my enlarged prostate operated on, and consequently have been discouraged from riding my bicycle by my doctor. Would your seat permit me to ride again without pain? A: Yes! Instead of confining your body weight to a postage stamp size area on a saddle, our RealSeat will disburse your body weight over a much larger area.
RETURN POLICY Q: In the event I do not like the seat what is your return policy? A: We provide a 30-day return policy from receipt of seat, less both a 30% re-stocking fee and all shipping charges. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Please understand we do regret charging a penalty for returns, but it is absolutely necessary and proper considering the returned seat is no longer new but used.
WEIGHT CAPACITY Q: I weight over the 250 lb weight limit given to your largest seat, do you offer a seat that will support my increased weight? A: No, 250 lb is the maximum limit. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Our largest seat the 'RS-22' is built to withstand weight greater than 250 lbs., but there is a growing body of evidence that those who weight over 250 lb. tend to lack the agility and dexterity necessary to competently use seat without incidence.
